Wedding Photography Timeline – A Useful Guide

Wedding Photography Timeline – A Useful Guide

A wedding photo and video timeline are vital to capture all those important moments, and all wedding photos and videographers will definitely agree. As your wedding photography and videography studio of choice, we created this wedding photography timeline – a useful guide to help you figure out how much time you need for each aspect of your day.

Of course, every wedding is unique and different in its own way. Therefore, bear in mind that the following timeline is just a guideline.
Timelines:

  • Bride Getting Ready Photos and/or Videos (1.5 hours)

We set aside 1 hour and a half for capturing our bride as she gets ready to walk down the aisle. Capturing images with the bride alone, getting her hair and make-up done. Together with her bridal entourage and family, candid and posed. A closeup shot of accessories, rings, bouquets and all other elements that we can cover within the time frame.

We recommend that bridesmaids’ make-up be done before the bride. Ideally have the bride’s makeup preparation at its final stages so we can capture around 10 minutes worth of the final make-up photos.

  • Groom Getting Ready Photos and/or Videos (1 hour)

Next, we move to the groom’s location and do the photoshoot for an hour. A series of solo shots of the groom at the final stages of getting dressed. The group candid and posed photos with his groomsmen and family members.

  • Ceremony Images and/or Videos Photos and/or Videos (30mins to 1 hour)

This timeline is highly variable depending on the type of wedding ceremony our couple have.

  • Post Ceremony Group Photo and/or Video Session (30 mins)

This is a quick session to capture group images with the couple. Together with immediate family, the entourage, and other relatives.
We recommend the couple submit a name list and someone who can assist the photographer/videographer to quickly identify who should be included in the group as this will be for a short amount of time only.

  • Location Photo and/or Video Session (1 to 2 hours)

We allow a total of one to two hours for location shots, inclusive of travel time per venue. If there will be more than 1 or 2 venues, a 30-minute session for each location.

Ideally, choosing location photo shoots that will be within the vicinity of your ceremony or reception would cut down on travel time and more time on capturing moments. We recommend having fewer venue changes as it allows for better, relaxed moments rather than going to and from venues and rushing the photo or video session. A backup venue is always great for sudden weather changes.

  • Reception Session

After the location session, the couple should best be at the reception venue at least 15 minutes before the start. Quick touch-ups and the wedding team to set up audio, lighting and equipment. Here, we take images of the venue, and decorations before focusing on the most important subject of the day. The newlyweds. We also take this time to take as many candid shots as we can to fully capture the moments that will surely remind everyone of this wonderful day.
