Top Tips for the Best Wedding Flowers.

Every wedding has its flowers, just as every rose has its thorn. There’s often a lot of pressure surrounding your choice of flowers, and style, and broader implications. As wedding photographers and videographers, we always look at the beautiful style and design of every wedding element and ensure to capture all of your hard work. Here are ten tips to help you find the best flowers for you.

Research

It may not be common, but it’s very important to interview a floral designer just as you would any other professional. You must make sure you both have the same vision and feel like you are being listened to. Often, once you have a connection with a floral designer, you’ll find that they will be able to execute your vision and even offer new ideas and inspiration that you hadn’t come across.

Local

If you choose your wedding flowers based on your wedding location and date, you’ll be able to save a lot of money! In season flowers can be much less expensive. It is also always nice to give a little nod to your locale.

Lookalikes

Find a flower you love, but can’t invest in its high price for 20 table centrepieces? Design a lookalike! Many florists can help you find a less expensive doppelganger, and let you hold onto your beautiful blooming vision.

Be Creative

Vases aren’t the only way to display your favourite bunch of flowers. Wooden boxes, tea cups and vintage drawers all create unique and out-of-the box solutions to displaying your flowers creatively. Combining flea-market finds is always a charming touch.

Don’t Force It

If you don’t love flowers, there’s absolutely no reason to use only them. Jazz us arrangements with feathers, wire, candy, shells, buttons and even fruits and vegetables! Anything with a pop of colour will work wonders for your displays.

Colour and Design

Design a colour scheme for your wedding day first. Then go to a florist with your decisions and budget. This way, your florist will be able to create a cutting-edge design with your choice of colours, within your budget, and you won’t get hooked on chasing a flower that’s just out of your league. Saving time and saving money are the most precious things in wedding planning.

Recycle

Another great way to cut costs is to reuse your flowers from the ceremony at the reception. All it takes is some transport and setting up, it’s that easy!

Greenery

Don’t forget about foliage. Greenery, textures and silhouettes can turn an ordinary arrangement into a stunning centrepiece. Adding foliage is a lot less expensive than extra blooms and can add a lot more to the overall look.

Personal

Make sure your flowers are chosen for a reason. Do you have a special and sentimental story about yellow roses? Add them to your bouquet! There’s more to flowers than their colours.

Examples

Come prepared to your florist with examples! As amazing as they may be, your florist is not exactly a mind reader. Creating a vision board together, with your choice of example flowers is the perfect way to creating your unique displays.
